I have enriched my academic training through graduating in Master of Accounting from the Heider College of Business, Creighton University, and with a Master of Business administration and Bachelor of Business Administration both in Accounting from the University of Rajshahi. My professional career is adorned with Graduate Assistantship at the Department of Accounting of Heider College of Business, Creighton University, and teaching of multiples courses of Accounting and Business.

In my teaching and managerial career, I succumbed the positions of Lecturer to Associate Professor of Accounting and Director of Academic Affairs. As a prolong passenger of Accounting information systems, I have traveled long ways and realized the importance of timely, precise, correct, relevant, reliable, compatible, and consistent information for decision making. I have observed the devastating failure of businesses giant such as Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, and to name a few with the downturn of the global economy. The failures were because of wrong information processing, a job of data science. On the other hand, entrepreneurs, critics, and analyst tribute presentation and uses of information in the right time and suitable manner for making trillion of profit. The Forbes Global 2018 listed such businesses namely, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, China, China Construction Bank, JPMorgan Chase- United States, Berkshire Hathaway, United States, etc. Data science is the discipline that makes data usable for multiperspective users for the above achievements. So, I decided to explore my potential in the field of data science.

The Rationale of the Program

As I’m a graduate and was a professor of Accounting I understand the pragmatism of information. Accounting, best defined as an information system, by nature is concerned with economic information only but the business is not only depended on the financial in data but also thrust for the information of the whole business entity for its best corporate governance and sustainability. The information is widely and inevitably needed in the important area of Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, product, and logistics supply. Thus, I need to go beyond accounting information systems to impart myself in the complex field of business decision making.

In addition, data-driven analysis is an integral part of risk management, healthcare, and governmental policy implementation. Because if data is not processed in accessible ways then the leaders or decision makers can’t make meaningful decisions. The human spectrum of dominance reaches at the deep down the sea-the Oceanography, and up in the sky-the Astronomy, through the uses of data science. For instance, the Amazon’s, eBay’s, and Alibaba’s transactions processing, Self-driving car, Facebook’s customized advertisements, Google search engine’s performances, and car with artificial intelligence are the amazing output of real-time data analysis and its result. These multi-diversified scopes of data science have fueled me for the pursuant of Ph.D. in Data Science.

I also became interested in data science while I was preparing my master's work papers on Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and their impact on accounting professional and auditing. I found enterprises such as Walmart, Target, CVs, Amazon, eBay, and Alibaba producing millions of data in a single moment. So, these Big Data have approached numerous challenges for the stakeholders. Data Analytics has extended its helping hand with innovations of ERPs such as NetSuite ERP, Sage Intacct, SYSPRO, Odoo, Oracle ERP Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics GP, SAP ERP, Epicor ERP, Brightpearl, Sage 100 ERP and to name a few. Some businesses also developed their own customize data management software with the help of Data Science.

Apart from those, I had a dormant dream in my mind to be self-dependent in designing and uses of computer applications, artificial intelligence, and software. As Data Science exceeds the territory of Accounting Information Systems and I believe that the exciting curriculum of Ph.D. in Data Science with a masters pathway will help in the culmination of my passion. Finally, as I oversee the modern complex and interacting environment needs the design of sophisticated, intricated, dynamic, versatile and user-friendly decision-making models, which needs flawless, timely, concise and relevant information thus I made my mind to take a challenge of higher study in pursuing Ph.D. in Data Science.

At this point in my career, I realized that today’s advance and the interactive world is severely in need of addressing complicated issues with gentle optimum solution and modeling. In a typical day, we easily understand the existence of technology. Now, we can start our car from anywhere in the world using smart devices apps. It’s simply mind-blowing in the extreme weather, for example, we can start our car before getting into it form our home to be heated in freezing temperature or to be cold in high heating temperature. Technology in these modern days is like a spider web (but strong), which is comprised of data and technology. The quality data, its analysis, technology, and science are the main driven forces for optimum uses of the resources. The data science includes all these elements.

Therefore, my career goal is to become a competent researcher of Data Science so that I can contribute in saving lives providing healthcare systems with more sophisticated and less harmful technology, help Astronauts, Oceanographers, Business Leaders, Farmers, Geographers, Meteorologist, and the whole world with excellent ouputs of data science to take right decision at right time.

While I was looking for universities in the USA to pursue my higher study in Data Science, I had several criteria in my mind.
